Dance of the Red Dragon

The dance begins. Earth comes to a halt.
Cracks appear along the fault.
Three days of dark, three days of night.
A destroyer comes, we cannot fight.

Airplanes fail, magnetics, I guess.
Train tracks now a tangled mess.
The roads are torn, the bridges out.
Belief not needed, there is no doubt.

Wherever you are is where you’ll stay.
Predators wait along the way.
No transportation, except your feet.
No water, no food, not a thing to eat.

Death awaits around every turn.
Cold pervades, nothing left to burn.
The sky is dark. The light is gray.
It isn’t night. It isn’t day.

People now as animals are.
Light and safety are few and far.
The Dragon dances in the sky.
Soon it’s time for all to die.

The very few who saw it come,
Cannot save the blind, deaf, and numb.
A handful left to start anew,
So very young, so very few.

A struggle now to live to breed.
No longer just an orgy of greed.
What will remain of a culture gone bad?
Of the pride, the glory, and the honor we had?

The few that are left must start from scratch.
They cannot mend. They cannot patch.
History will scarcely mention this time.
I’m sure that it won’t uncover this rhyme.

What happened before will forever be lost,
Until another culture will pay the same cost.
Truth not encouraged by those in power.
Those who speak it, locked in a tower.

No time to prepare for what they all knew would come.
The people like children, intentionally dumb.
Unprepared and unaware,
They wait for help that will not be there.

One by one their lights blink out.
Without a whimper. Without a shout.
The politicians rant and rave.
Only to die in their expensive cave.

We knew it would come and tried to prepare.
Those we told didn’t seem to care.
The human psyche has been laid bare.
Only time will tell how we may fare.

America the Slumbering
[Sung to the tune of America the Beautiful]

America, America, where money makes the rules,
Where corporations pull the strings and treat us all as fools.
America, America, you never hear the truth.
Just close your eyes, be hypnotized by Uncle Sam’s red tooth.

America, America, we used to all be free,
But now because of TV “news”, we’re afraid to dump the tea.
America, America, may history be kind
And not put blame upon the lame, the sheeple, and the blind.

America, America, where politicians feed
Upon the hearts of patriots, with corruption and with greed.
America, America, may you soon be awake
And take the reins of government from those who say; “Eat cake”.

Wangbli Masaska

HAD I the heavens’ embroidered cloths,
Enwrought with golden and silver light,
The blue and the dim and the dark cloths
Of night and light and the half light,
I would spread the cloths under your feet:
But I, being poor, have only my dreams;
I have spread my dreams under your feet;
Tread softly because you tread on my dreams.
